What is IFS?

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) is one of the three Civil Service examinations (diplomatic civil service exam under group A) in India organized by the Union Public Service Commission once a year. Successful candidates are employed at the Indian embassy in other countries and the Ministry of External Affairs. Indian Foreign Service differs from other services as the former deals with diplomacy, international relations/policies, trade and cultural relations. The prime role of IFS remains in devising foreign policies and presiding over Indian missions internationally.

Also, this post mandates learning a foreign language during your training period if selected.

Being an IFS officer mandates certain skills such as diplomacy, excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, leadership qualities, and ability to cope up with different environments and more.
